Yale Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science to accept applications for research grants

by Christopher Gardner

The Yale Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) is offering grants for projects that study tobacco additives and modified risk tobacco products.

Up to three to five projects will be funded at levels between $25,000 and $75,000 (direct costs only). Projects must be completed in one budget year, and collaborative studies between Yale TCORS and one or more other TCORS are encouraged.

Organizers of the 2016 Pilot Project Program say grants are for projects that initiate research that relates to understanding tobacco additives and modified risk tobacco products through behavioral, molecular, laboratory, pharmacological, epidemiological, and economic sciences that involves humans (both clinical and epidemiological research) and animals (basic research).

Funders are particularly interested in studies of menthol, flavors, sweeteners, and e-cigarettes, and studies that use novel techniques.

Letters of intent must be received by email to tcors@yale.edu by December 7. Eligible candidates are Yale TCORS-supported trainees; Yale TCORS investigators; and Yale Postdoctoral associates or fellows, junior investigators, and established investigators interested in pursuing tobacco regulatory research.

For questions, or to submit a cross-TCORS collaborative proposal, call the center at 203-974-7591 or email tcors@yale.edu.
