Yale Psychiatry Residency Program

Psychiatry residents tour the Yale University Art Gallery.

Dear Future Psychiatrists,

Our Program’s mission is to develop a diverse cohort of compassionate psychiatrists who will be respectful members of our community, and collaborative leaders in clinical care, medical education, research, and/or public policy. We seek to train physicians who will be agents of change in psychiatry, medicine and society to advance the values of ensuring high quality and equitable healthcare for all patients; scientific innovation; and responsiveness to both the history of medicine and the ever-changing environments in which we live and work.

Over the next four years, your on-the-job training experiences, mentorship, and individualized education plan will provide the foundation for the rest of your career. Choosing the right residency program is an essential first step in that process.

We offer our residents a stimulating and supportive environment, full of opportunities, in which to realize their potential. Highlights of the Yale psychiatry residency experience include:

  • One of the largest selections of affiliated training sites in the country (all within close proximity)
  • The Psychiatry Residents Association – ensuring community and representation of resident voices
