National Academy of Medicine Elects Six Yale Faculty Members
Six Yale School of Medicine faculty members have been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM). The six are among 100 new members elected by the organization to receive the honor, which recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service in the fields of health and medicine.
Yale Scientists Win NIH Awards for Pioneering Work
Yale School of Medicine’s Valentina Greco and Marina R. Picciotto are among the 11 recipients of the National Institutes of Health’s Pioneer Award, which recognizes scientists who have a history of creative research and who show promise in originating “pioneering approaches to major challenges.” Greco and Picciotto will each receive $3.5 million dollars of funding over the course of five years. In addition, four young Yale scientists will receive the NIH’s Innovator Award.
Klee recognized with APA Outstanding Contributions in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Award
Anne Klee, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, has been honored with the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) 2019 Outstanding Contributions in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Award.
Picciotto to be Recognized with Marion Spencer Fay Award
The Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership of Drexel University College of Medicine will award its 2020 Marion Spencer Fay Award to Marina Picciotto, PhD, Charles B.G. Murphy Professor of Psychiatry and Professor in the Child Study Center, of Neuroscience and of Pharmacology at Yale School of Medicine.
Sestan Honored for Research in Developmental Neuroscience
Nenad Sestan, MD, PhD, Harvey and Kate Cushing Professor of Neuroscience, and Professor of Comparative Medicine, Genetics, and Psychiatry, received the Constance Lieber prize for innovation in developmental neuroscience on June 19 at a prize symposium at in Baltimore, MD.
Rakic awarded 2019 Connecticut Medal of Science
The State of Connecticut and Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering have awarded the 2019 Connecticut Medal of Science to Pasko Rakic, MD, PhD, Dorys McConnell Duberg Professor of Neuroscience and Professor of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine.
Desai to be honored with early career award from American Psychological Association
Miraj Desai, PhD, Instructor at the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health at Yale School of Medicine, has been chosen to receive the Distinguished Early Career Contributions in Qualitative Inquiry Award from Division 5 of the American Psychological Association (Division of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods).
Krystal and Nunez-Smith Are Honored by Association for Clinical and Translational Science
John H. Krystal, MD, Robert L. McNeil, Jr. Professor of Translational Research, chair and professor of psychiatry, and professor of neuroscience; and Marcella Nunez-Smith, MD, MHS, associate professor of medicine (general medicine) and of epidemiology (chronic diseases), have been chosen for awards by the Association for Clinical and Translational Science.
Powers, Shah to be honored with Future Leaders Awards
Al Powers, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, and Jai Shah, MD, a 2013 graduate of the Yale Public Psychiatry Fellowship, will be honored in October with Future Leaders Awards at the 11th International Conference on Early Intervention in Mental Health in Boston.
