Fuehrlein, Mandelkern, Annamalai, Fickes honored by APA

January 16, 2018

Four Yale Department of Psychiatry faculty members have been honored by the American Psychiatric Association with awards for outstanding and sustained contributions to resident and medical student education.

Brian Fuehrlein, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, and Marshal Mandelkern, MD, PhD, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, were honored with the Irma Bland Award for their work teaching residents.

The Nancy C.A. Roeske Teaching Award was presented to Aniyizhai Annamalai, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, and Joseph Fickes, MD, for their contributions to teaching medical students.

Both awards recognize APA members who have taught at their nominating institution for at least three years. The awards are competitive; in 2016, seven physicians were honored nationally with the Bland award, and eight received the Roeske award.
