Course Objectives
This conference will provide a forum for professionals, individuals with lived BPD experience, and family members to better understand the roles of attachment and trauma experiences as underlying many of the difficulties associated with borderline personality disorder. By completion of the conference, participants will be able to:
- Recognize common relationship difficulties that present within the context of borderline personality disorder.
- Understand the impacts of attachment and trauma experiences on interpersonal relationships, particularly within the family, for individuals with borderline personality disorder.
- Understand experiences of cultural betrayal and racial trauma and how these experiences may contribute to or exacerbate difficult experiences of persons with borderline personality disorder.
- Identify evidence-based treatments and resources available for individuals with borderline personality disorder and their family members.
- Utilize concrete skills to manage difficulties associated with difficult attachment and trauma experiences in the context of borderline personality disorder.
