Averill to participate in ADAA Alies Muskin Career Development Leadership Program

November 20, 2017

Lynnette Averill, PhD, Associate Research Scientist in Psychiatry at Yale, has been selected to participate in the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) Alies Muskin Career Development Leadership Program.

The highly competitive program is an intensive mentoring and professional development opportunity for early career clinicians and researchers. According to the ADAA website, the program challenges thinking and encourages creative discourse about anxiety, depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related disorders in a diverse, multidisciplinary community of professionals involved in practice and research.

Averill will receive complimentary registration to the Anxiety and Depression Conference 2018 April 5-8 in Washington, DC.

The abstract she submitted for the award was based on preliminary data that finds widespread alterations in cortical thickness among veterans endorsing suicidal ideation, with and without post-traumatic stress disorder.

Averill has received several grants and awards while at Yale. Earlier this year, she was awarded a research grant by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to fund the project, “Brain Connectivity Networks and Predictors of Rapid Improvement in Suicidal Ideation among Veterans.”
