January 31, 2017

The Yale Department of Psychiatry will host the inaugural RebPsych Conference at Yale on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Linsly-Chittenden Hall, 63 High St., New Haven.

The conference, “Rebellious Psychiatry: Where Mental Health Meets Social Justice,” is free and open to the public. It will bring together students, mental health professionals, community activists, consumers, and others to explore the intersection of mental health and social justice.

Modeled on the Rebellious Lawyering conference hosted by Yale Law School, the conference will provide a platform for participants to build partnerships and discuss strategies for social change.

The scheduled keynote speaker is Mindy Fullilove, MD, a research psychiatrist at New York State Psychiatric Institute and professor of clinical psychiatry and public health at Columbia University. Her research has focused on health in poor communities and decline in health.

Abstracts for additional presentations may be submitted online before February 28, 2017, at the conference website, www.psychiatry.yale.edu/rebpsych.

The conference will begin at 8:00 am with registration and breakfast followed by opening remarks and parallel sessions. It will end at 4:00 pm
