Chilakamarri named to top doctors list in Atlanta

September 27, 2016

A 1998 graduate of the Yale Department of Psychiatry’s residency program has been named to a roster of the best metro Atlanta doctors.

Jagan K. Chilakamarri, MD, is one of three doctors on Atlanta Magazine’s annual list of the top child and adolescent psychiatrists in the Atlanta area. The doctors are chosen by their peers, and Chilakamarri said he was surprised and honored to have been included. He and the other doctors named to the list were honored at a reception in June.

Chilakamarri has worked in private practice in Atlanta since 2007, seeing adults and children. He credits his training at Yale with helping to launch his career. His mentor at Yale was Robert M. Rohrbaugh, MD, professor of psychiatry, deputy chair for education and career development, and director of the department’s residency program.

“I trained at a good time. I really liked it. It’s my home,” he said. “What I feel I achieved in life, I found direction there. It’s a great residency.”

After graduating from the residency program, Chilakamarri was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Yale Child Study Center. He held an academic appointment as an assistant clinical professor in psychiatry at Yale from 2001-2004. He has been a volunteer attending physician at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta since 2009.
