April 03, 2023

Henrique Oliva, MD, PhD, postdoctoral associate in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, has been selected to receive the 2023 College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD) Travel Award for Early Career Investigators.

The competitive award provides complimentary registration and a stipend to defray costs associated with attending the CPDD Annual Meeting from June 17-21, 2023 in Denver.

CPDD was founded in 1929 and is the longest standing group in the United States addressing problems of drug dependence and abuse. With over 1,000 members, it serves as an interface among government, industrial, and academic communities maintaining liaisons with regulatory and research agencies as well as educational, treatment, and prevention facilities in the drug abuse field, according to its website.

Oliva works as a researcher in the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit (CNRU) of the Connecticut Mental Health Center. He joined the Yale Cocaine Research Clinic in 2022 under the mentorship of Gustavo Angarita, MD, MHS, assistant professor of psychiatry. He will be presenting PET imaging work examining the Kappa opioid receptor system in individuals with opioid use disorder. This work was funded by the NIH/NIDA Penn PACE (P30 DA046345) grant and the Peter McManus Trust.
