Biography
Erica Ahlert-Smith, MD is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. After completing General Psychiatry training at Yale, she went on to complete fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and College Mental Health. She holds a clinical faculty appointment in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, and sees patients in her private practice in New Haven, CT.
Clinical interests include issues of identity formation, separation/individuation, development across the life span, creative expression and blocks, adjustment to school and college, depression, anxiety, grief, attention/hyperactivity, impulse control, coping with medical illness, children of divorce, and pre/postnatal issues.
Dr. Ahlert-Smith currently teaches third-year medical students as part of the combined Ambulatory Care Internal Medicine and Psychiatry clerkship. Her class is part of the series entitled "Biopsychosocial Approach to Health."
