Charles C Dike is Professor of Psychiatry, and Deputy Chair for State Affairs, Department of Psychiatry, Yale University School of Medicine. He is also Chief Executive Officer, Connecticut Mental Health Center. Prior to that, he was Chief Medical Officer, Office of the Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and past president of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL). Dr. Dike completed medical school at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and psychiatric residency at All Birmingham Hospitals Psychiatry Residency Training Scheme attached to the University of Birmingham, England. After additional training at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Dr. Dike completed a fellowship training in Law and Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medical. Dr. Dike obtained a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland and was awarded a membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of England in 1998. He obtained a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004, and a Master of Arts (Privatum) from Yale in 2024. A past president of Connecticut Psychiatric Society, Dr. Dike is a Distinguished Fellow of American Psychiatric Association, Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of England, and Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is also past Chair of the Ethics Committees of the APA and of AAPL, and author of Ethics Corner in Psychiatric News, a monthly article discussing psychiatric and medical ethics concerns in practice. Dr. Dike is a Special (Federal) Government Employee serving on the National Advisory Council of the Center for Mental Health Services of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). AAPL established the Charles C Dike Scholarship Award for his tireless work on Diversity and Inclusion and other issues pertinent to forensic psychiatric practice. He is also a recent awardee of the APA’s Chester Pierce, MD, Human Rights Award. His interest areas include, but are not limited to, medical and psychiatric ethics, pathological lying, management of aggression, health systems administration and forensic psychiatric consultations (civil and criminal).

Katie Wang, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale School of Public Health. She received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Yale University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship through the Yale AIDS Prevention Training Program. Dr. Wang's research broadly focuses on the role of stigma as a psychosocial determinant of mental and behavioral health inequities among diverse marginalized populations, with a specific emphasis on people with disabilities and individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Some of her recent and ongoing projects include an investigation of mental illness stigma as a risk factor for substance use among adults with depression (funded by National Institute on Drug Abuse), a longitudinal study examining the mental health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people with disabilities, and a mixed-methods study to develop and validate a questionnaire measure of daily intersectional stigma experiences among Black people with disabilities (funded by National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities). Dr. Wang utilizes a wide range of methodologies in her research, including surveys, experiments, psychophysiological measures, ecological momentary assessment, and qualitative interviews.
