Global Mental Health Seminar Series
The Global Mental Health Seminar Series discusses the current challenges and innovative solutions in Global Mental Health. Attendees include current Yale Psychiatry residents and faculty, Yale School of Public Health students, Yale School of Medicine students, the broader Yale community, and the public.
This is conducted through
- Highlighting community leaders and mental health advocates. Speakers who are a part of their community (eg. Dr. Chibanda with the Friendship Bench in Zimbabwe) are prioritized.
- Representing urban and rural areas. Global regions of Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America are represented.
- Emphasizing bi-directional learning
We welcome you to attend regardless of where you are in the world, your current level inside or outside of the education system, or whether you are simply interested in one speaker. In general, we devote the first 30 - 45 minutes of our meeting to a presentation by a researcher or practitioner in the field, followed by 15-30 minutes for questions and group discussion.
Residents and faculty in the Yale Global Mental Health Program participated in seminars with Shekhar Saxena, MD, of Harvard in October 2025 and Sarah Riley, MD, of Yale in January 2026.
The seminars are held throughout the academic year.
