Biography
Dr. Elana Schettini is a Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and the VA Connecticut, VISN 1 MIRECC. She is trained in clinical psychology with complementary expertise in cognitive neuroscience and data science, she has developed a program of work focused on behavioral regulation, maladaptive coping, and substance use. Her clinical focus within the Veterans Health Administration include outpatient substance use treatment and dialectical behavioral therapy skills training. These experiences have shaped her interest in understanding how individuals engage with treatment systems and what barriers delay access to and utilization of evidence-based care.

Dr. Schettini’s research centers on improving early identification of maladaptive coping behaviors (with a focus on substance use) and enhancing timely engagement in care within large healthcare systems.
