YSM Colleges

In 2023, Yale School of Medicine (YSM) began the process of creating six colleges, an important initiative in the Yale School of Medicine Strategic Plan for Medical Education. Colleges will function as a homebase where students can connect with classmates, faculty, alumni and others at YSM, and they facilitate greater access to mentorship, research opportunities, and career exploration. Social activities, community service opportunities, and special events support community building, teamwork, and inclusion, as well as collegial discussion, sharing of ideas, and reflection.

MD and MD-PhD students become members of a college based on their current academic advisory group. MD-PhD students continue as part of their college during their research years, and our physician associate students also are affiliated with the colleges. Each college has an academic advisor, as well as faculty coaches and affiliates, adding to the mentoring ecosystem of the colleges.
