Clinical Electives at Yale

Yale School of Medicine offers over 100 diverse and challenging Clinical Elective and SubInternship experiences for medical students, that are overseen by over 65 committed faculty members. There is an ongoing process to review and improve electives to ensure the greatest quality and variety of learning experiences.

This website contains information for students and faculty members about the elective and SubInternship curriculum at Yale.

Electives serve at least two major roles in the curriculum:

1) Prepare students for choosing, matching and succeeding in the residency of their choice.

2) Serve as a culminating educational experience rounding out the medical school curriculum.
