Incoming Faculty Orientation
Overview
Each year the Office of Academic & Professional Development (OAPD) hosts an all-day orientation program for incoming faculty members. The 2025 Incoming Faculty Orientation (IFO) will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6, in The Anlyan Center (TAC), 300 Cedar St.
Whether you are new to Yale School of Medicine (YSM), or have been with us for several months, the orientation provides useful information and resources to help you thrive as you pursue your career at Yale, and offers an opportunity to meet and network with peers, colleagues, and leaders from YSM and Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS).
Highlights from this year’s agenda:
- Welcome remarks from Yale Provost Scott Strobel, PhD, and YSM Dean Nancy J. Brown, MD
- Overview of YSM’s clinical, education, and research missions and resources
- Introduction to academic tracks, with break-out sessions to review expectations for advancement in your clinical or research career
- Information sessions, including:
- Professionalism and well-being
- Faculty development and annual review process
- YSM communications resources
- Leading inclusive teams
- Non-discriminatory work and learning environments
Please note we request each department relieve you of any clinical obligations on that day and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit is available for those who participate.
