Sterling Professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry
The Office of Physician-Scientist and Scientist Development is pleased to call for nominations for Fund for Physician-Scientist Mentorship Awards. The fund was created in 2023 to recognize, honor, and promote the activity of mentorship for those who have served as exemplary role models and mentors for physician-scientists at the Yale School of Medicine. Exceptional mentorship benefits the mentee, the mentor, and the school contributing to the personal and professional development of future leaders in the field of medicine.
Nominations will be accepted for Faculty who have a demonstrated history of excellence in mentoring the career development of physician-scientists. Faculty must be at the rank of Professor at the Yale School of Medicine and it is open to faculty with a MD, MD-PhD, DO, PhD or equivalent.
The winner of the award will be invited to speak about their experience in mentorship and science at the Janeway Society Retreat on May 28th. The awardee will receive funds to support mentorship activities associated with the training and teaching of the next generation of leaders in the field including support for visiting lecturers, career development forums, and mentoring activities.
Nominations will be reviewed by a senior faculty panel and will be accepted until February 13, 2026. Nominations should be submitted to OPSSD and should include the following:
• A copy of the nominee’s CV
• A 1 page or shorter letter discussing the impactful mentorship activities of the nominee and how this individual is an exemplary role model as a mentor for physician-scientists at the Yale School of Medicine.
• Table of previous mentees including their current appointments (going back at least 15 years)
• Summary of previous mentees
• Letters from previous mentees (optional)
