Research Summary
In Yale's Translational Brain Imaging Program (led by Dr. Kelly Cosgrove), Shivani is investigating the molecular systems in the brain which may underlie observed associations between PTSD symptoms and peripheral endocrine and immune dysregulation, using PET radiotracers for novel molecular targets such as 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1, a brain enzyme that generates cortisol, and translocator protein, a marker of microglia in the brain.
