Biography
Jeans Miguel Santana, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist with certifications in adult cardiothoracic anesthesia and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, in Brooklyn, NY in 2017. He completed his anesthesiology residency at SUNY Downstate and affiliated hospitals as a Chief Resident in 2021. While a Chief Resident, he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society and is a lifetime member. In 2022, he completed his adult cardiothoracic fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA.
Throughout his development, Dr. Santana has received several prestigious awards and grants. He has presented at multiple national and international meetings and has co-authored several manuscripts. He has also reviewed case abstracts for presentations at national and international meetings, and is an active member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). He currently serves on SCA’s Quality Safety and Value Committee, and ASA’s Committee on Communications and Committee on Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia. He also serves as a Special Faculty member of Fairfield University's student registered nurse anesthesia (SRNA) program.
Dr. Santana's interests include: community outreach; patient satisfaction, engagement and education; student education; and TEE. He maintains an active YouTube channel to educate patients and trainees on a global scale.
Outside of his career interests, Dr. Santana enjoys spending time with his family and working out at home.
