Biography
Corey Roos, PhD; Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine; Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
My research aims to improve the accessibility, effectiveness, and efficiency of treatments for psychiatric disorders, particularly substance use disorders (SUD). I have expertise in the science and practice of mindfulness-based interventions, including the aftercare intervention for SUD (for individuals stepping down from inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment) called mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP). I am currently working on developing a self-guided multi-media web-based version of MBRP, as part of a K23 grant funded by NCCIH.
Overall, my research interests fall in the following areas:
- Mindfulness-based interventions
- Technology-based interventions (web- and app-based)
- Intensive longitudinal methods (EMA and daily diary designs)
- Regulatory strategies (e.g., emotion regulation/coping strategies) people use in daily life
- Mechanisms of recovery from SUD and other psychiatric disorders
- Patient-treatment matching ("Precision medicine/treatment")
- Harm reduction and humanistic, wholistic approaches to helping people with substance use problems
