What is your favorite part of being a doctor/healthcare worker/researcher?

Meeting adorable babies and children each day and watching them grow over the years brings me immense joy. Guiding my patients and their families through the challenges of complex heart conditions is deeply gratifying. Their resilience in the face of adversity continually inspires me and reinforces my commitment to this work.

Who or what motivated you to become a doctor/healthcare worker?

Growing up in an academically driven family, where education was highly valued, I was naturally drawn to the biological sciences. However, the loss of my grandmother was a pivotal moment that fueled my determination to pursue medical school and make a meaningful impact through medicine.

Who or what motivates you in your work now?

My patients and their families are a constant source of motivation for me. Additionally, I am deeply passionate about medical education and take great pride in helping to shape and mentor the next generation of medical professionals which is a rewarding aspect of my career.

Did you have a mentor that made an impact on you? What would you like to share about them?

I’ve been fortunate to have had several mentors throughout my journey, each of whom has significantly contributed to my growth and success. It would not be fair to choose one.

What’s something you’re most proud of?

It has to be when my daughter chose me as her role-model for her school essay. It was a validation that I am making a positive impact on her life!

“Bollywood songs” is my genre to go-to

What’s the last movie you saw?

Despicable Me 4

What’s the last book you read?

"Fish in a Tree" – it was a book I had to read with my 5th grader, but I did enjoy it!

Iron Chef in Madison, CT

What's the one item you can't live without?

My morning coffee

Is there anything else you think is important for readers to know about you or your experience as a woman in medicine?

Believe in yourself. Don’t be afraid of taking on new opportunities but it's also ok to say “NO” if there is too much on your plate. Find mentors and community to grow together.
