Patrick is awarded a grant from the Dystonia Foundation!

April 11, 2017

Dr. Lusk was awarded a grant from the Dystonia Foundation to spearhead a collaborative venture with the Schlieker lab to study the unusual AAA+ ATPase Torsin; a mutation in the gene encoding Torsin A causes a debilitating early-onset dystonia. Interestingly, the expression of the Torsin mutant allele causes herniations of the nuclear envelope. The goal of the grant is to understand the molecular mechanisms that lead to the nuclear envelope malformations.
