Abujarad presents at NIH mHealth Technology Showcase and AcademyHealth
The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is excited to announce that Fuad Abujarad, PhD, was a presenter at the 2018 mHealth Technology Showcase on June 4th at the NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The goal for the meeting was to discuss how the mobile health (mHealth) research community can work together to improve the specificity, reliability, and validity of health indicators extracted from data collected from wearable and mobile sensors, in the context of rapidly evolving and increasingly complex and diverse technologies.
mHealth provides unprecedented opportunities to measure dynamic changes in health state and the key physical, biological, behavioral, social, and environmental factors that contribute to health and disease risk. In the last decade a significant number of mHealth technologies have been developed and applied to advance health research.
“The department is honored that Dr. Abujarad was invited to present at mHealth,” said DEM Chair, Dr. Gail D’Onofrio. “With his innovative research on mobile-health technology, human-computer interaction, elder mistreatment, informed consent, and developing systems that provide real-time background, along with his focus on applying his methodological expertise to address major health disparities in vulnerable populations, Dr. Abujard was the ideal choice to present at this showcase.” Dr. Abujarad was also recently invited to give three presentations at the AcademyHealth’s Annual Research Meeting. The largest meeting of health services researchers and policy analysts, the conference is aimed at transforming delivery systems and healthcare by strengthening evidence needed to inform the decisions that affect the health of individuals and communities.

Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Abujarad is an accomplished researcher with over 20 years of experience in research and development in commercial and academic environments, and a nationally recognized as an expert in the design and development of the background check system.
