The Department of Urology, Yale School of Medicine is hosting the Men's Health Symposium: Current Concepts and Controversies on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Waters Edge Conference Center in Westbrook, CT. <_o3a_p>
The exclusion of men and boys from the larger debate on health equality has become "normal" with men often absent from national health objectives and no specific focus on male-centered health care. Morbidity and mortality rates in males in the United States and abroad are striking.
We should be creating a culture that promotes good health for all people through healthy development across the lifespan.Shedding light on how government policies as well as public attention have grown to accept poorer male health outcomes is a task that needs to be dissected and attended in public health, health education, health promotion, and community involvement.
This conference intends to review, discuss, and fullfull the need to better understand gender specific issues relating to benign and malignant prostate disease, hypogonadism and sexual dysfunctions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This course will enable participants to:
- Discuss issues that result in men's health disparities
- Discuss the controversies regarding testosterone use and cardiovascular disease risk
- Apply advances in treatments for disorders affecting sexual function including testosterone deficiency, BPH and Erectile Dysfunction
- Assess the ratio of benefit-to-harm in the early detection of prostate cancer in asymptomatic average risk men
- Review the role of MRI fusion biopsy in the detection and diagnosis of prostate cancer
- Recognize barriers to effective diagnosis, treatment, and management of common male health issues
