Dr. Andy Beltrán is a respected physician and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, bringing a wealth of expertise to the field. Born in Guatemala and raised in the inner city of Harlem, New York, he has a unique perspective shaped by diverse cultural experiences. A proud graduate of S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical University, he completed his psychiatry residency at the same institution, where he served as Chief Resident for two consecutive years. Dr. Beltrán's academic journey commenced at the prestigious New York University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, laying the foundation for his keen understanding of human behavior.
As an immigrant from Guatemala and having grown up in the vibrant community of Harlem, Dr. Beltrán brings a rich cultural awareness and a deep commitment to addressing healthcare disparities. Fluent in Spanish, he is a dedicated Spanish-speaking provider, enhancing his ability to connect with and provide personalized care to diverse patient populations.
With a profound interest in Health Equity, Dr. Beltrán has dedicated his career to providing high-quality psychiatric services. He currently serves as an integral part of the Consult Liaison Psychiatry Department at Yale New Haven Hospital, extending his expertise to the Yale Center for Infectious Diseases and the Smilow Cancer Hospital Sickle Cell Program, both under the hospital's esteemed umbrella.
