Dr. Hieftje's interests primarily focus on health promotion and behavior change through the use of game technology. She is an Associate Research Scientist at the Yale School of Medicine and Deputy Director of the Yale Center for Health & Learning Games and play2PREVENT Lab. Dr. Hieftje is actively involved in several videogame projects that focus on topics including HIV prevention, tobacco and e-cigarette use, empowerment around sexual health, and risk reduction in adolescents. She has published several articles around serious game development and evaluation.
