New Haven Voices: Understanding Where We Live, Work, and Play

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion, Community Engagement, and Equity (DICE) and the Office of Medical Education are hosting a panel discussion with community leaders about Greater New Haven, its history, and how issues such as housing, education, safety, job opportunities, and the environment impact the health and well-being of its residents. Through this discussion, it is our hope that students can better understand Yale’s relationship with Greater New Haven and how they can most meaningfully contribute to the New Haven community, in their role as health professional students as well as residents of the city.

Panelists:

Karen DuBois-Walton, PhD, Chairperson of the State Board of Education; President of the Elm City Communities; Secretary of Housing Authority of the City of New Haven

Nadine Horton, Research Assistant at SEICHE Center for Health and Justice; Founder of the Armory Community Garden

Justin Farmer, Legislative Councilman for Hamden’s 5th District
