Research Summary
Cranial sonography including developing normal standards for ventricular sizes and the relationship between imaging findings and neurodevelopmental outcomes; relationship between chest radiographic findings of premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia and degree of clinical compromise; utilization of multi-slice CT scanning in the pediatric population.
Specialized Terms: Cranial sonography
Extensive Research Description
As my clinical practice changed from pediatric imaging to adult thoracic imaging, my research interests have changed as well. I am currently involved in projects related to sickle cell disease as well as cystic fibrosis. The sickle cell project will involve defining the imaging characteristics of those patients whose discharge diagnosis was acute chest syndrome - location of airspace disease, need for imaging other than plain radiographs, coexistence of other pathologies.
