Biography
Research Summary
Dr. Lazorwitz's primary research interest is focused on the pharmacogenomics of contraception, which is understanding how genetic differences can affect how birth control works. Individuals have widely variable experiences with birth control and differences in our DNA could help explain why birth control is not as effective for some individuals while others experience severe side effects with birth control. Understanding these genetic differences could help lead to personalized medicine tools that allow healthcare providers to prescribe contraception in a more individualized fashion that ideally reduces undesired side effects and maximizes the prevention of unwanted pregnancies.
