Biography

Efia James attended Howard University, earning her undergraduate degree in mathematics and a medical degree. Her interest in the health of underserved populations led her to complete her residency in the Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Program. After residency, she attended The George Washington University, earning a Master of Public Health. She went on to work for the State of Maryland Disability Determination Services and the Veterans Health Administration Compensation and Pension Program helping injured workers and veterans obtain disability benefits. She recently completed her fellowship in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Yale. Dr. James is the Chief of Occupational Health Services at the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System. Her interests include disability management, military toxic exposures, and medical education. She loves spending time with her daughter, traveling, and crafting in her free time.
