Chien-Yu Huang, PhD


Chien-Yu earned his PhD degree in Health Services Outcomes Policy from College of Pharmacy, Purdue University, and his research interests lie in pharmacoepidemiology, health economics and outcomes research. Before joining CORE, he served as a research statistician in a consulting firm and his major responsibility was designing SAS automation for calculating women’s contraceptive use rate by using electronic medical records from various data partners. He is a data-driven enthusiastic scientist, and he is dedicated to solving patients' safety issues with real-world evidence. Previous experiences enable him to clean the extremely dirty dataset and perform data processing automation, which accelerates the analysis process. He has extensive experience in bridging the gap between medical research and statistical analysis, such as multi-level modeling, quasi-experimental study design, and survival analysis. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on drug-associated outcomes in the field of cardiology for assessing the risk of arrhythmias by utilizing medical claims and electronic medical records. He is also a certified Pharmacist in Taiwan. During his leisure time, he likes running, rock climbing, hiking, and hanging out with friends.
