This is the remarkable story of Frederick Bruce Thomas, the son of former slaves in Mississippi who moved to Europe in 1894, became a millionaire in tsarist Moscow, and then reinvented himself as the "Sultan of Jazz" in Constantinople, where he died in 1928.
