Dr. Ahangari received her MD degree from Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. Then she started studying cancer biology and ATM (Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated Protein) as a research fellow at QIMR (Queensland Institute of Medical Research) in Australia, in 2008 she joined Professor Jack A. Elias lab at Yale School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow. In Dr. Elias lab she was working on pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and obesity to define the role of Chi3l1 (BRP-39/YKL-40) and Chitotriosidase in the pathogenesis of these diseases. In 2012, she joined the faculty in Internal medicine/pulmonary department at Yale, first as an associate research scientist and then as research scientist. Currently Dr. Ahangari is working in Professor Naftali Kaminski lab, focusing on single cell RNA sequencing to understand the cell specific phenotypic changes that underlie the human lung phenotype in Pulmonary fibrotic diseases specially IPF.
She is also interested in studying transcriptomics and epigenetics changes in the process of murine and human lung development related to disease parthenogenesis.
