Interim chair at ophthalmology

Ron Adelman, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. ’11, professor of ophthalmology and visual science and director of the Yale Retina Service, will lead the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, pending a search for a permanent chair. Adelman will serve as interim chair following the appointment of James Tsai, M.D., M.B.A., as president of New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and chair of ophthalmology for the Mount Sinai Health System. Adelman received a master of public health degree from the University of California at Berkeley, completed residencies at Harvard and Stanford, and a two-year retina fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. At Harvard he received awards, including the Club Vit Fellow Research Award, the Ron G. Michels Fellowship Award, and Fellow of the Year 2000.
