Hugh Taylor Named President of American Society for Reproductive Medicine

October 10, 2018

Hugh S. Taylor, M.D., will be the next president of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the largest American clinical organization for reproductive medicine specialists. His presidency was formally announced on Oct. 10 at the annual meeting of ASRM in Denver, Colorado.

Taylor is the Anita O’Keeffe Young Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale School of Medicine and chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Yale New Haven Hospital. His research focuses on endometriosis — the ectopic growth of endometrium outside the uterus, which affects about 10% of adult women — and the mechanisms that lead to and regulate that disease. Taylor’s lab also does research on uterine development as well as clinical and translational studies on menopause.

Taylor begins as vice president of ASRM effective immediately, serving then as president-elect in 2019-2020 and president in 2020-2021. ASRM is a “multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the advancement of the science and practice of reproductive medicine.” The society accomplishes its mission “through the pursuit of excellence in education and research and through advocacy on behalf of patients, physicians, and affiliated health care providers.”
