Yale School of Public Health alumna Pamela Sutton-Wallace, MPH ‘97, has been promoted to president of Yale New Haven Health, the health system announced this week. In her role as president, Sutton-Wallace will lead the health system’s efforts to strengthen clinical services to advance the health and well-being of communities.
Sutton-Wallace joined Yale New Haven Health in July 2022 as chief operating officer, helping to guide the health system out of the pandemic and into its future role as an academic health system. She has worked closely with the Yale School of Medicine to build programs and increase access for patients across the state and region.
“Pam has proven herself as a visionary leader at our health system and among her peers nationally,” said Christopher O’Connor, CEO of Yale New Haven Health. “I truly appreciate her commitment to high quality and equitable care as well as her operational acumen.”
Sutton-Wallace received her bachelor’s degree from Washington University and a Master of Public Health in health policy and administration from the Yale School of Public Health.
“My education and experience at the Yale School of Public Health almost 30 years ago helped shape my career in ways I never would have imagined," Sutton-Wallace said. "Specifically, the linkages between epidemiology, population health, and health care management/administration have allowed me to approach my work from a much broader, inclusive perspective as we strive for high value and equitable care.”
Sutton-Wallace serves on several boards including the Duke University School of Nursing Board of Visitors, the Carol Emmott Foundation, and Consensus Cloud Solutions. She is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives.
She was named one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Minority Executives in 2018, and one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare in 2019 and 2023. Becker’s Hospital Review named her one of its Top 50 African American Health Care Executives in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
