March 30, 2021

Yale School of Medicine ranked #1 for psychiatry programs in the 2022 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools rankings released March 30.

U.S. News annually ranks medical schools and other programs to help students decide where to attend school. It also ranks specialties, and this year Yale School of Medicine was ranked the top medical school nationally for psychiatry.

Psychiatry at Yale has long been rated a top specialty by several national ranking agencies. Last year the Yale Department of Psychiatry Residency Program ranked second nationally in research and third in reputation in Doximity’s 2020-21 Residency Navigator program.

In a separate rating, U.S. News ranked Yale New Haven Hospital Behavioral Health Services among the top 10 hospitals for psychiatry in its 2020-21 Best Hospitals Rankings. The Yale Department of Psychiatry topped all U.S. medical schools in grant funding for psychiatric research from the National Institutes of Health, according to the recent Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research survey.
