The April issue of Connecticut Magazine features several photos of the recently expanded Emergency Department along with comments from Department Chair and Physician-in-Chief, Dr. Gail D’Onofrio.
“Defining Emergency” by Erik Ofgang, describes the evolution of emergency departments. According to the article, more modern, high-tech, and friendly feeling EDs care for a high patient volume in a more efficient way.
“The Emergency Department is controlled chaos,” D’Onofrio said, “I always have to have the resources for the worst-case scenarios.”
In the updated ED, those resources include new technology that makes triage faster and more accurate and point-of-care testing that lets providers get test results immediately at the bedside.
