Yale’s Global Health Leadership Institute (GHLI) recently welcomed the latest class of Global Health Corps (GHC) fellows to campus, where they are taking part in a two-week training program that will prepare them to work on the frontlines in the fight for global health equality.

Co-founded by Barbara Bush ’04, GHC provides one-year fellowships for young professionals from diverse backgrounds, who tackle health issues across the globe. The GHLI has an educational partnership with GHC to support the training for this new generation of leaders through discussion, case studies, and lecture sessions with both peers and global leaders.

The 106 fellows taking part this year hail from 16 countries and will serve with 44 health organizations in Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and select cities in the United States.

Mike Skonieczny, executive director of GHLI, welcomed the GHC fellows on July 8, saying: “The work that GHC is doing helping to develop the future cadre of leadership take will take us forward in global health.

“You should take advantage of every opportunity before you,” he advised.
