Hi everyone,
Just a quick but important note before heading down to the MICU.
Sometime soon—probably this week—you will get an email from the ACGME, asking you to complete the annual resident survey. This survey is essential: the ACGME uses it to ensure programs adhere to key mandates such as:
- Complying with duty hour rules
- Providing measures to respond to fatigue
- Offering rich clinical training, scholarship opportunities, and teaching
- Creating safe, effective pathways to report concerns
- Giving feedback
- Participating in quality improvement
Your survey responses are confidential and will be reported back to us in aggregate in the spring. The results allow the ACGME to identify potential problem areas and to make accreditation decisions. Our PEC uses the results to complete its annual program review and identify ways we can improve.
At our next Program Director’s meeting, this Friday, we’ll discuss the survey, review key ACGME rules, and clarify terms that can cause confusion. Please attend if you can.
