The Perch literary journal puts out call for submissions

November 07, 2016

The Perch, a non-academic literary journal of the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health, is accepting submissions for its next volume.

Organizers conceptualize a "perch" as a vantage point from which to gain certain perspectives, and a place for taking off, incorporating those perspectives. They invite many voices, including those with a broad, artistic interest in mental health.

The next reading period is November 15, 2016, through May 15, 2017. The Perch will also accept musical submissions for the next volume. Musical submissions may be from any genre, and may be expressed as (1) lyric/spoken word with instrumental accompaniment; (2) purely instrumental; and (3) a cappella.

All submissions must be original works (not covered songs) and must not include any samples from copyrighted material. Royalty-free samples are acceptable with an annotation of the source (s) for verification purposes.

All submissions must be previously unpublished. Upon official acceptance for journal publication, the author (s) must enter into a non-exclusive license stipulating that their work will appear only within The Perch journal for a pre-determined amount of time, after which publication rights return to the author (s).
