The Perch, a journal of literature, arts, and music edited by the Yale Program for Recovery & Community Health, is now accepting submissions for its next issue.
The editors conceptualize a “perch” as a vantage point from which to gain new perspectives on mental health in its many dimensions, both personal and social. The journal welcomes contributors from the U.S. and around the world, including those with a broad artistic interest in mental health. The Perch accepts poetry, fiction, non-fiction, visual art, and music.
“We are delighted to launch our next issue of The Perch,” said Michael Rowe, PhD, editor-in-chief and co-director of the Yale Program for Recovery & Community Health. “We started the journal to share new perspectives on mental health in a broad sense, to contribute to the evolving narrative about mental health, and to explore the social-political contexts in which people struggle to restore their mental health and full citizenship. Every issue is different and reflective of our time, and submissions need not adhere to a narrow or clinical definition of mental health. We look forward to publishing new and exciting voices once again next year.”
The current submission period is August 1 through September 30, 2018. All submissions must be previously unpublished. The next issue, the fifth volume of The Perch, will be published in the spring of 2019.
