Seeking Alumnae for YSM Women’s Alumnae-Student Mentorship Program

October 10, 2019

The Yale School of Medicine Women’s Alumnae-Student Mentorship Program will be making its fifth round of matches, following a highly successful launch in November 2015. This year, we will match YSM women alumnae mentors with all years of students - 1st years in the Class of 2023 through those working on their degrees as part of the MD/PhD program. We enthusiastically welcome new and existing alumnae participants.

The YSM Women’s Alumnae-Student Mentorship Program presents an opportunity for alumnae of Yale School of Medicine to share their knowledge and experience with current YSM students. Alumnae mentors are paired with students and typically offer guidance and advice about professional concerns such as choosing a specialty and following an academic versus non-academic career path, as well as issues outside of the workplace such as work-life balance and starting a family during training. Participation in the program enables alumnae to reconnect with and stay connected to their medical school, and to forge meaningful relationships with students at an earlier point in their medical careers. The amount of time involved, and level of commitment is flexible for both alumnae and students, ranging from email, text, Skype and telephone communication to in-person meetings.

In order to help us pair alumnae and students, please click through to our short survey. It should only take a few minutes of your time. Responses are requested by Friday, November 1 @ 4pm to be matched with a student during the fall semester.

Thank you in advance for your participation. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to email us at ysmwomensmentorshipprogram@gmail.com.
