Hi Everyone,
Every June, as graduates depart and new interns arrive, we renew our residency community.
Our community works by teamwork—on rounds, in emergencies, and during procedures—as we team up with co-residents, fellows, attendings, consultants, APPs, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, social workers, technicians, and administrators.
We flourish because we can trust the honesty and integrity of our colleagues, so we can believe what we hear on rounds and read in the chart.
We thrive because we can depend on others to follow through on tasks—to enter orders, call families, and check labs—without needing reminders.
Our community is fueled by kindness. We embrace our motto, “as good as any, nicer than most.” We think well of others, show grace when colleagues fail, help without having to be asked, and prioritize the needs of the team above our own.
Orientation begins on Tuesday. We will welcome our 2024-25 interns with inspiring talks, ice breakers, and pizza. Our newcomers are smart and accomplished, and their diverse backgrounds and perspectives will enrich us as we begin another year and renew a residency community built upon the pillars of teamwork, trust, dependability, and kindness.
Enjoy your day, everyone. This afternoon, I’ll be watching my daughter perform in an Irish Dance recital in Stratford and then head to Flushing for a hot pot dinner.
