Medical Campus Building Assessments Begin July 15

July 11, 2024

To the YSM Community:

Last month’s State of the School referenced an ambitious facilities and capital plan to address space needs across the medical campus. We will be organizing a comprehensive facilities conditions assessment over the summer and early fall to help inform the plan. The first of three assessments will begin on Monday, July 15, and will be conducted over the course of two weeks.

Yale’s facilities project team will work with design consultants, SmithGroup, to visually evaluate the condition of all medical campus facilities, ensure they meet our standards for safety and functionality, and determine where to invest capital. Professionals from SmithGroup will be properly identified and will not be disruptive to your work during their evaluations.

Beginning July 15, the following buildings will undergo conditions assessments, including all labs, conference rooms, offices, mechanicals, and public spaces:

  • Sterling Hall of Medicine (333 Cedar St.)
  • Jane Ellen Hope Memorial Building (315 Cedar St.)
  • Boyer Center for Molecular Medicine (295 Congress Ave.)
  • E.S. Harkness Hall (367 Cedar St.)
  • Neison Irving Harris Building (230 S. Frontage Rd.)

The second and third assessment phases will take place on Aug. 19 and Sept. 30 respectively, and we will provide ongoing updates on the facilities conditions assessment locations as they are finalized.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at ysmfinance.administration@yale.edu.

Sincerely,

Arnim Dontes, MBA
Deputy Dean for YSM Finance and Administration
