- Deadline extended: Abstract submissions are open for the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) 2022 Conference, "Healthy People, Healthy Planet, Social Justice" on April 1-3, 2022. The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) invites all persons wishing to report original research, innovative projects or novel programs related to global health to submit abstracts to be considered for presentation. All abstract presenters MUST register and pay the registration fee to have an accepted abstract included at the conference. Only one abstract per submitter/presenter will be accepted. - Deadline November 1st: 2022-2023 application cycle for the Global Health Equity Scholars (GHES) fellowship has officially opened. 10 month research fellowship at one of 31 sites in 23 countries.

· Tuesday, September 21st @ 12-1:30pm (Zoom): Yale Program in Addiction Medicine presents, “Finding Solutions to the Opioid Crisis Speaker Series: What Becoming a Patient Taught Me About America’s Problem with Opioids,” by Travis Rieder, PhD (Research Scholar, Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics). Dr. Rieder will share about his experience of the US healthcare system’s challenge in managing his pain and physical dependence on opioids following a motorcycle accident. His experiences speak to the broader history of opioid prescribing in the U.S., approaches in pain management and the science of addiction, as well as the systemic and cultural barriers we must overcome to address the opioid overdose crisis effectively.
