At its annual Freedom Fund Dinner, the Greater New Haven National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) announced Dr. Dirk Johnson as the 2023 recipient of the Cornell Scott Health Award. The award is named after Mr. Cornell Scott, who, in 1968, partnered with Yale to establish Connecticut’s first Federally Qualified Community Health Center-Hill Health Center, and honors champions of community healthcare. Dr. Johnson serves as Medical Director of Surgical Services and ICU Director at YNHH-Saint Raphael's Campus, where he advocates, daily, to meet the healthcare needs of the underserved.
