Breast Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Mehra Golshan, Joins Smilow Cancer Hospital

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mehra Golshan, MD, MBA, FACS, as inaugural Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Services and Professor of Surgery (Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Golshan brings extensive leadership experience to our Center and will serve as Interim Director of The Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital.

An international leader in the clinical care and research of breast cancer, Dr. Golshan is an innovator in tailoring surgery and therapy for women with early stage breast cancer. He is the principal investigator on several phase II trials aiming to reduce the need for second surgeries in women with breast cancer, one of which uses innovative image-guided OR capabilities to capture and remove all residual tumor utilizing MRI and mass spectrometry.

Dr. Golshan joined Yale from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute having served as the Dr. Abdul Mohsen and Sultana Al-Tuwaijri Distinguished Chair in Surgical Oncology, Director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship, and Chair of the Cancer Committee for the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center. He was the Director of Breast Surgical Services, over his nearly 17 years at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Golshan completed his fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He earned his Medical Degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management.
