Yale New Haven Hospital Listed as One of the Nation’s Best Hospitals for Orthopaedics

July 28, 2020

Yale New Haven Hospital has been listed as one of the best hospitals in the country for orthopaedic care by U.S. News & World Report for 2020-21. The Department of Orthopedics, staffed by faculty at the Yale School of Medicine, was ranked #50 in the newest listings released on July 28.

“I have no doubt that this is only the beginning and that there are more good things to come for our department,” said Lisa L. Lattanza, MD Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics.

The Best Hospital rankings list is now in its 34th year and is compiled using a variety of data, including patient outcomes, length of stay, and the number of procedures performed at a facility. The rankings are designed to help patients make informed decisions about the best places to receive their care and where to pursue elective surgeries.

Lattanza said that adding more faculty with specializations, and by incorporating newer surgical techniques and research into patient care, she believes the department will continue to improve.

“We have laid a solid foundation and there is still so much for us to do together,” Lattanza said.
