Class of 1976: 40th Reunion note

June 23, 2016

An enthusiastic crowd of 32 classmates and 15 spouses attended our 40th medical school class reunion June 3-5.

Classmates came as far away as Argentina, California, Atlanta, and Chicago and also from nearby - New York, Boston, Cape Cod, and Baltimore. We signed in and immediately noticed a photo of our class from 1976.We tried to identify each other as well as ourselves from 40 years ago. Yes, we all got older but did not change too much. We could identify each other without difficulty.

We enjoyed learning about dynamic changes that have been going on at the medical school and were reassured regarding the Yale system that we valued. We spent much time visiting and sharing our unique stories of the past four decades. Classmates have excelled in academic medicine, deanships, private practice, pharmaceutical and biotech industry, original health-related businesses, national organizations such as CDC and NCI, and a wide variety of community service activities including medical missions abroad. Some of us are happily retired while others are fully engaged at work and even beginning new phases of their careers.

On Saturday evening, over a fabulous dinner of Bouillabaisse or steak at Atelier Florian, we continued to share our memories of school years and journeys since then. Several of us joined together for brunch at the Yale Commons and talked until the event closed.

So many of us wanted to meet again but not wait for the next reunion time in five years. We will try to plan regional gatherings in the interim.

We raised a toast to friendships renewed, old bonds strengthened, and our hearts were fulfilled.

Thank you!
